Kingdom: House of Bapindi Congo
His Royal Majesty King Kufulula is the King of the Bapindi Tribe in Central Africa also known as Pende or Bapende.
He was born into a long line of Kings that have ruled over the Kingdom of Lunda for generations.
The Bapindi (Pindi, Pende or The Bapende) are a people of Central Africa established in the Democratic Republic of Congo, some Bapindi originate from the dispersed Noli Group which is part of the larger Anamongo Group.
Their language is Kipindi, a Bantu language spoken in the regions of kimbilangundu, Kipata and Kibobo.
Coming from Angola, the Bapindi were the first to settle in the Kwango River region. The other group of Bapindi, crossed the Kasai river to the territory of Kutu, where they lived with the Sakatas, before the latter pushed them back because of a royalty problem. This is how they returned to Mai- Ndombe , to settle in the territory of Kikwit, in the Bandundu sector, in Kabamba.
The Bapindi (Bapende) consider themselves to be the founder of Angola. Pindi(Pende), wherever they live, have songs portraying the reasons of their departure from Angola to the DRCongo. Most importantly, after the death of their strong Queen NZINGA.
The Bapindi and The Ambundu in Angola are same tribe; the group that migrated to Congo, DRC was named 'tupinzu-tupinzu,' that is where the name Phindi. They migrated to their current region of the modern-day Democratic Republic of the Congo in around 1620 as a consequence of the expansion of the Kingdom of Lunda .In around 1885, the powerful Chokwe ethnic group began expanding and gained control over the Eastern Pindi (Pende) but this period was brought to an end by the arrival of European colonists and the creation of the Congo Free State.
The Bapindi (Bapende) made statues, masks, prestigious objects, The bapende masks are on the francs of the Congolese currency,and decorative objects.
